I am travelling to Chicago on 4/26 for NFO XPO in Version Festival. I will be showing Panda Express, cBlends jackets and DivaTV in the two-days event from April 28-29 at Zhou B. Art Center, 1029 W 35th St, from noon to 9pm. My friend Niki and Ana will be in Chicago at the same time showing in Art Chicago presenting San Francisco Art Institute. We are going to hit up shows and parties together in this art fest week.
Meanwhile this Saturday April 28, Panda Express will be also showing in RX Gallery as part of the fifth Overlap event. Come by!
Tuesday morning Ryota have an early morning video shoot. Camera crew picked up equipment at chestnut campus at 6:30am, pick up me and Alma at 7am and arrived at shooting location Mission Dolores park before 7:30am. Waking up early was not as bad as I thought. It’s actually pretty nice to get to see how the city is in early morning and feels you have a longer day to do things than normal.
Since January I have been documenting five people’s video projects making process including Christo, Alma, Han, Prum and Ryota. I have been either part of their team of production and document their shoots or arranged someone to do it for me. There are 15 mini DV tapes of footage so far. Finally I started capturing them from last week.
Ryota’s shoot was not very difficult. This is one of the two part shooting Ryota will have. The second part will be more complicate and it will take place on April 28. I realize during his shoot, my favouriate position in a video/film crew is documenting and in charge of beverage, much more so than directing, operating camera, reading light meteror holding mic. You can call me a beverage director.

Since Chinatown tailor lady stopped making the cblends man jackets for us, I started learning something about sewing machine by myself at home, with a “Singer” sewing machine that borrowed from school. The red jacket you see below is combining a “I climb up the Great Wall” tourist jacket and a business suit. The structure of this jacket is not very solid because of my technique.
Last week Emi came over to help out. With her we created another jacket you see above. That night I cooked dinner. We couldn’t have wine because we had sewing mission. Emi came up the idea of having the sport jacket sleeve comeout from the suit.
